A new way to boost the leadership of small businesses in Doncaster

Doncaster’s leading providers of business support are working together to help Doncaster businesses grow.

Doncaster Council, Doncaster Chamber, Beta Technology and The Consultancy Academy are offering a leadership and management development programme designed specifically to address the needs of Doncaster’s small businesses. The scheme is based on a ‘best of all worlds’ model based on decades of collective learning and experience.

The ‘Doncaster Leadership & Entrepreneurship Academy’ takes academic theory and makes it relevant for local businesses helping them identify strategies for sustainable growth.  The project also encourages peer-to-peer learning and support by bringing together small firms and business people from a range of sectors that can share their experiences, aspirations and concerns.

Mark Smith, Business Growth Manager for Doncaster Chamber commented: “Together with our partners we can help Doncaster business owners enhance their entrepreneurial skills and expertise so they can grow their business and contribute positively to the local and regional economy. The programme is designed specifically for local SME business owners, managers and entrepreneurs who want to take their business to the next level.”

Jenny Blizard, owner of Blizard Physiotherapy and Sports Performance Clinic said:

“My professional background is purely clinical hands on physiotherapy work so the LEAD course proved a very positive investment of my time.

“It was good to network with other businesses and listen to their challenges and opportunities which often were very similar to my own and gain the confidence to know that I was doing some things right and make any necessary changes to make it even more successful. The networking opportunities have also enabled us to enlist the help of two other businesses on the LEAD course.”

The course runs over three days (1 March, 15 March and 29 March). A reduced rate of £199 +VAT is available until the 17th February (£299 + VAT thereafter). Places are limited, for more information please contact either; Mark Smith at Doncaster Chamber (01302 640130 msmith@doncaster-chamber.co.uk ) or Karen Edwards at Beta Technology (01302 322633 karen.edwards@betatechnology.co.uk) or book online by visiting the events section of the Doncaster Chamber website www.doncaster-chamber.co.uk/events

This course follows the completion of a similar project, part- funded by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES), which was made available to local firms in Doncaster in 2016.
