Changes to National Minimum Wage

Changes to the National Minimum Wage rates came into effect on 1 October 2016. The National Minimum Wage for workers aged 21 to 24 increased from £6.70 to £6.95; for 18 to 20-year-olds, it increased from £5.30 to £5.55; and for those aged 16 and 17, it increased from £3.87 to £4.00.

The National Minimum Wage for apprentices increased from £3.30 to £3.40. The National Living Wage rate for workers aged 25 and over is unchanged at £7.20. The new rates will apply until 30 March 2017.

From 1 April 2017, the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates will be aligned and the revised rates will come into effect on 1 April each year. For further information please go to: https://www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates
