Sheffield based Shepherd Distribution Services, a member of Logistics Hub UK, has been awarded a Gold standard operator by The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
The Gold award is an accreditation encompassing safety, fuel efficiency, vehicle emissions and improved operations.
Laurence Abel, managing director at Shepherd Distribution Services, said: “We are delighted to have once again been awarded this Gold accreditation.
“The Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a membership scheme that aims to improve freight delivery in London. Shepherds have been members since 2012 and have recently passed our assessment for the Gold accreditation.”
Shepherds are amongst a small band of operators to reach this standard and FORS have recently adopted even more safety practices that need to be met to achieve this standard.
“We are flying the flag for the Sheffield City Region, our location is ideal as we are in the centre of the UK and working in partnership with groups like Logistics Hub UK (LHUK) we can help to raise the profile of the region as the place to do logistics business. We are developing strong alliances which will help us to provide a real gateway to the world from our region,” added Laurence.
Shepherd Distribution Services, which has been established in Sheffield for more than 70 years, has seen business grow thanks to innovative ways of working.
Shepherd, who employ 120 people, are also founder members of the innovative Palletline pallet network, which sees 70 members working together to distribute goods across the UK.
