GHM!, which already trades on Kilner Way in Sheffield, is set to open its doors at Doncaster’s Wheatley Retail Park at 10.00am on Tuesday 25th October.
With customers’ favourite brands at prices they love, GHM! is a one-stop shop for savvy shoppers as they replenish everyday items for their cupboards, drawers, larders and wardrobes, saving them money and time.
From jeans to beans to spring cleans, GHM! brings together PEP&CO family fashion, food and general merchandise under one roof – at prices customers will be compelled to share with friends and families.
It’s also a destination for festive and seasonal items – opening just a week before Halloween, GHM! Doncaster will have a full range of devilish decorations at prices that scare no-one.
The Wheatley Retail Park is already home to a number of well-known retail brands, and work has been underway for weeks to bring GHM! to town. The store will be run by manager Wendy Mills and opened by the Mayor of Doncaster and Ian Bacchus and Paul Taylor from local charity Firefly Cancer Awareness & Support.
GHM! has teamed up with Jobcentre Plus, to recruit a team of 30 from scores of applications. Training begins this week in preparation for opening. “I really want to thank Doncaster College, Business Doncaster, Job Centre Plus, Wheatley retail park and Firefly for their fantastic help and support as we approach opening day,” added Wendy.
GHM!’s first four stores are proving a hit with customers keen to buy ‘replenishment’ items each week to keep their households running – and keenly aware of prices on those items.
Run independently from PEP&CO, which completed its initial 50 location opening programme last autumn has recently featured on ITV’s prime-time Bargain Shop Wars, the new format has a leadership team with a strong retail pedigree.
Managing director Koray Gul was co-founder and MD of international apparel business GAAT and held a number of senior trading leadership roles at Asda; Operations director Simon Singleton has thirty years’ experience in senior retail marketing and operations roles for Holland & Barrett, Woolworths, FOCUS DIY and George at Asda; Trading director Chris Burns was head of FMCG at Wilkinson’s. Finance director Roy Ellis has joined the leadership team from Poundstretcher.
“We’re delighted to open our largest store in Doncaster later this month,” said Koray. “Our team is working hard to bring them items they buy week-in, week-out at prices that will make them proud to say ‘Guess How Much!’ when they tell their friends and families.
“All of us at GHM! promise to stay close to those customers as they tell us how we can shape the store in the months ahead, to save them time and money.”
The central support office for the new format is based in Leeds. GHM! has already opened stores in Hinckley, Leicestershire, the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, Sheffield and Walkden in Greater Manchester. It will also open in Cardiff before the end of the year, part of an initial first phase programme of eight to ten stores.
