Premier Storage completes contract at iPort

Doncaster design and build company, Premier Storage and Office Solutions, has completed work on one of the first units to be occupied at the prestigious new Doncaster iPort, where up to six million square feet of logistics space is planned.

Global manufacturer and marketer of home and workspace products, Fellowes, is one of the first two companies to move into the new development, just off the M18 at Doncaster, along with Amazon.

Premier Storage beat off stiff competition to supply Fellowes with the full design and fit of racking for its 123,215 square feet warehouse.  The £300,000+ contract has seen Premier Storage’s managing director, Mark Jepson design an area for 14,000 for Chep and Euro pallets, with drive in pallet racking and barcode and location labelling facilities.

Using Dexion P90 pallet racking, which, unlike its competitors, is capable of holding heavy loads without attracting a heavy cost, Mark and his team of eight men took two months to install the racking, which was completed in August 2016, giving Fellowes a fresh start when moving into the iPort.

When asked how Mark managed to win the prestigious job, he said: “To put it simply, we offered the right product, at the right price and provided our full commitment to the job, providing Fellowes with several designs before the final system was agreed. We are also able to use one of the most cost effective and versatile products on the market at the moment, with Dexion being one of the most used racking systems in the UK today.  The name is synonymous in the industry with quality and fast availability.

“We consulted closely with Fellowes to provide a quick turn-round on a bespoke set up that provided the company with a new system that suits its immediate and on-going needs and  costing not much more than it would to have to have moved the old, already damaged, system from the existing warehouse.

“The main contractor was still on site at the iPort and we had to ensure that all of our work complied with the new 2015 Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations, as well as dovetailing with other contractors who were still on site.  Our expertise and experience in installing this type of system meant that we were able to easily manage the installation in line with the requirements.”

Gavin Clark of Fellowes said “We greatly appreciate all the work done by Premier Storage in the last six months. We look forward to working with you again in the future.”
