The Yorkshire airport was selected to handle the delivery of two 747s for Feld Entertainment on behalf of Disney on Ice, bringing set and staging equipment to the UK ahead of this year’s Frozen tour.
The two cargo aircraft arrived at Doncaster Sheffield Airport from Narita, Japan this week (October 4), in preparation for the start of the extremely popular family show, which begins its tour in Manchester and reaches Sheffield Arena in December.
Dayle Hauxwell, cargo manager at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “It has been fantastic for us to work with the team at Feld Entertainment bringing in this large scale cargo, for Disney on Ice presents Frozen, to the UK.
“The complicated nature of the freight on board meant that a bespoke service involving a full tail to truck operation was required. This was not a job that many other UK airports would have been capable of delivering, so this is a real testament to our capabilities.
“This is the first time that Nippon Cargo Airlines have flown into Doncaster Sheffield Airport and we’re enormously proud to have played our part in this operation.”
Disney On Ice presents Frozen will take place in arenas across the UK showcasing the heartwarming Academy Award®-winning tale live on ice.
