Why Doncaster

Sheffield City Region Housing Fund

More homes required within Sheffield City Region

10,720 new homes have been built over three years and there is a target set of 70,000 new homes by 2024.

Although houses are being built faster than any point in the last five years, and have managed to increase the rate of completion every year since 2012, there is still a lot more to be done to meet our ambitious housing target. The SCR Housing Fund is key to this.

Launched in September 2017, the pilot £8m Housing Fund will prioritise ‘good’ schemes that can commence delivery soon after SCR approval has been granted.

The fund will complement and plug the gap in current national housing investment programmes, help to unlock development opportunities, and deliver much-needed new homes across the city region.

The majority of other funds currently available to support housing delivery are national funds, where competition between regions is extremely high. By contrast, SCR’s Housing Fund is a regional fund; only available to support schemes delivered within the nine local authority areas which make up SCR.

The Housing Fund offers a flexible approach to the allocation of monies, with various funding solutions available to meet the requirements of individual schemes across the region.

The Sheffield City Region are now inviting Expressions of Interest from public and private sector housing providers for those schemes which are struggling to attract funding.

The Expression of Interest Form can be downloaded here: Expression of Interest – Housing Fund and should be returned, along with an accompanying  Spend Output Profile to chris.collins-mckeown@sheffieldcityregion.org.uk before the deadline of Wednesday 15 November 2017.
