DB4C Community Vase

For the 3rd Year running the Doncaster Business Community Vase will take place. It is a charity match in which every cricketer playing is a leader of a Doncaster business. These men and women are divided into two teams to train together and then play cricket for the coveted Community Vase.

Last year the event took place at Town Fields Cricket Club. It raised over £5,000 of two local charities: Riding for the Disabled at Rossington Hall and The Children’s Sleep Charity located in Woodfield Park. This year, for the first time, the match is being played at Tickhill Cricket Club.

The Community Vase is a 20:20 match organised by Doncaster Business for the Community (DB4C). DB4C is a registered charity comprised of Doncaster business leaders who all volunteer their time to raise funds to support local charities that meet the needs of the people of Doncaster. DB4C has no paid staff. Even its accounting and legal services are donated. Thus, all net proceeds support local charities.

The event is undertaken with the support of media partners including Eastside magazine and the Doncaster Free Press. It is promoted also by partner organisations including Business Doncaster and Doncaster MBC.

Proceeds from the 2019 match will support two new charities: Create a Dream Foundation and The Hygiene Bank. Create a Dream works to fulfil the bucket lists of terminally ill children, for example, with trips to Logo Land and Harry Potter World. The charity works closely with Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. The Hygiene Bank provides soaps, toothpaste, shampoo and hygiene items to local poverty support groups working at the community level, such as: food banks, homeless charities and community groups. Proceeds will be earmarked by those two charities to support Doncaster children and families.
