Dragon Boat Challenge 2019
Visit Doncaster and Rotary Club of St George’s Dragon Boat Challenge will be held on Saturday 13th July 2019 on the lake at Lakeside, Doncaster. It will be the 10th Anniversary event which so far has helped to raise over £110,000 for local charities and good causes supported by the Doncaster Rotary Club of St George’s.
Dragon Boat Racing caters for all adult ages in one crew, male and female, mixed abilities and people with disabilities. It requires no previous experience and above all is great fun, consisting of 10 paddlers and 1 drummer, competing in 30 foot Dragon Boats.
The racing event is run by Gable events who are the country’s leading specialist organiser of this type of event.
Each team has 3 races over a 250 meter course with the fastest timed 9 teams going through to the semi-final races and the 3 fastest qualifying battling it out in the final race to be crowned the Dragon Boat Challenge Champions of 2019.
The event is covered by a professional Race Commentator and is run to very strict rules with accurate electronic timing.
Competition will be fierce but fun to take the crown of last year’s winnersDenton Nickels who won the title of Dragon Boat Challenge Champions.
The winners receive a trophy along with winner’s medals, and free entry in to the next year event, with the second and third teams also receiving medals.
As in the previous two years, we will also have an “All - Female” final, subject to sufficient all female teams entering, with Go Green Ltd’s ‘Usain Boat’ taking the title in 2018.
As part of the day’s events there will be a fun fair, craft and charity stalls, a range of food and drink, providing for a fun and entertaining day for competitors and spectators, which is free to attend. As this is the 10th Anniversary, we are looking to extend the day’s event with the inclusion of other land-based games, activities and entertainment. There is sure to be something for all members of the family of all ages.
Teams pay an entry fee of £350 (inclusive of VAT) per team and agree to raise a minimum of £30 per team member for your chosen charity. ALL the money raised will be passed to The Rotary Club of Doncaster St Georges, of which 70% will be returned to the Team Captain for presentation to your chosen Charity.
The entry fee is used solely to pay the associated costs of Gable Events to run and manage this event. Once the entry free has been paid, no refunds shall be given should a team be unable to take part.
If you are not able to raise a team from within your own company, you can have a joint team with another company, and also include family members and friends with up to 15 team members per team.
Bawtry Paintball and Laser Fields sponsor this event and provide each team that takes part, a VIP package worth up to £400.
