Atherton Godfrey welcome two new staff members

Atherton Godfrey is delighted to welcome solicitors, David Kirkman and Alison McIlroy to their family law team.

David qualified in 2013 specialising in family law, having previously worked in Wakefield and North Yorkshire.

He is a member of Resolution and is an accredited specialist in ‘complex financial and property matters’ and ‘children law - disputes between parents or relatives’.

He has expertise in divorce including high value divorces that involve businesses, pensions and overseas properties, financial settlement (in and out of court), prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and children law.  He is passionate about achieving the best outcome for individuals and their families.

Alison specialises in arrangements for children and child care issues. She qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and specialised in family and criminal law whilst working in Sheffield.

Over the last 8 years, Alison has worked in Doncaster as a family mediator specialising in children matters as an accredited mediator and a child consultant. Alison was also a professional practice consultant involved in training and supervising other mediators. She was instrumental in setting up a project to ensure children had their say and were listened to when their parents were divorcing or separating.

Alison says “I am delighted to be working at Atherton Godfrey and keen to continue helping children and their parents, families and guardians. Families may find themselves needing representation when social services intervene with matters such as care proceedings or where there are issues between parents or other family members concerning arrangements for children.”

Don Bird, partner and head of Atherton Godfrey’s family team says  “It is great to welcome David and Alison to our team – and to Doncaster.  We all look forward to working with them in the future.”
