Doncaster entrepreneur awarded up to £10,000 to improve local community

Tracy Mann, the Community Coordinator of North Doncaster Development Trust in Doncaster, is one of 80 leaders across England to have been selected for a competitive learning programme and Match Trading grant of up to £10,000.

More than 230 people across England applied for the Community Business Trade Up Programme, run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs, in partnership with Power to Change. The programme supports people improving their local communities through trade.

The programme will help Tracy to grow North Doncaster Development Trust, which serves the local community by bringing groups and organisations together and providing support for them to establish, grow and thrive.

Tracy will soon begin a nine-month learning programme at the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE). SSE helps people develop the skills, strengths and networks they need to tackle society’s biggest problems.

Tracy says: “I am delighted to have been accepted onto the Community Business Trade Up Programme, run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs, in partnership with Power to Change. The programme and Match Trading grant of up to £10,000 will help me grow North Doncaster Development Trust, so I can support more people in the North of Doncaster.”

Alastair Wilson, CEO of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, says: “We are thrilled to welcome Tracy onto the programme, where they’ll learn alongside other community leaders how to create lasting social impact for the region. We are confident Tracy has the entrepreneurial qualities and motivation to increase their impact on Doncaster even further, which is why we have awarded her a highly-coveted place.”

North Doncaster Development Trust will receive a Match Trading grant of up to £10,000. Match Trading is a new type of funding for socially-led organisations. It matches an increase in sales pound-for-pound, incentivising social entrepreneurs to find ways to earn more money, which they use to help more people or the environment. Match Trading was created by the School for Social Entrepreneurs.
