Doncaster based tech start-up Meetupcall enjoy another record year

Doncaster may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of the tech start-up industry, however conference call provider Meetupcall are proud to call the town home.

Founded by Doncaster-born Simon Moxon in 2009, the telecoms company have grown rapidly and now employ 19 staff at their Lakeside headquarters, having moved to their brand-new premises – next door to the state of the art £20m High Speed Rail College – in August.

The last 12 months have seen unprecedented growth for the company - who count Travelodge, Vanquis Bank and Lufthansa amongst an impressive client list. In 2017 Meetupcall hosted over 250,000 conference calls, up 60% compared to the previous year, with 840,000 people taking part in those calls from 169 countries across the world.

After receiving investment in 2015, the tech company were able to invest in their sales and marketing function - hiring seven new full-time staff members last year - and now boasts a turnover approaching £2m.

Meetupcall has ambitious plans to continue their impressive growth through 2018 and beyond, as founder & CEO Simon explains: “When I started Meetupcall I had just one simple aim – to provide the best conference call service on the market. Whilst this remains a key part of what we do, our vision for the next five years is to look at how we can make meetings in general better for everyone.

“To achieve this we will continue to add new and innovative features to our core product – like the all new conference call dashboard which is due to launch in the next few weeks. Furthermore, we plan to grow the Meetupcall team – starting with the recruitment of a senior management team in the next few months to take us through our next phase of growth.”

In addition to the new senior management team, Meetupcall is aiming to double in size over the next year, and should growth continue as planned they will need to employ a further 15 to 20 new staff members across their web development, customer service, sales and marketing teams – providing a real boost for Doncaster’s fledgling technology industry.
