A specialised independent health and social care company from Doncaster has been shortlisted for a prestigious national health award.
Community Practitioner Alliance (CPA), which is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups, has been nominated for its work with the South Yorkshire Regional Excellence Centre (SYREC) in the System Led Support for Carers category at the HSJ awards.
CPA and SYREC are leading on an innovative health and social care system level programme across the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw region that ensures care and support staff, paid or unpaid gain access to and benefit from development opportunities, support and guidance.
This has included using both existing and innovative programmes to provide a route into health and social care to acquire a professional qualification, running a programme within schools to support young carers with their subject choices, promoting the varying roles that are available and attracting talent from unpaid adult carers into a range of roles to raise aspirations through career opportunities.
Jo Cameron, Director of Social Care at CPA, said: “We are extremely pleased to have been shortlisted for an HSJ award which is a fantastic achievement and a real credit to our hardworking team. CPA, in partnership with SYREC, has worked tirelessly on this project to help people across our region to feel more supported and to open opportunities that can move them into paid caring employment and also in the development of carers within their careers.
“We also work closely with employers to drive quality and increase applicants for a career within the health and social care workforce. Our initiatives help carers realise their own personal potential but also showcase what successful career pathways are available in the health and social care sectors.”
CPA, based on Ten Pound Walk, a Community Interest Company (CiC) that works across the country to deliver innovative services to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups within the community and ultimately reduce the need for secondary care intervention.
The HSJ Awards have been celebrating healthcare excellence for 39 years producing a roll call of the best organisations, teams and people in the NHS and the wider health sector. The glittering ceremony takes place in London on 6 November 2019.
