Local business, The Jam Horse, is organising a 'Doncaster does Dragon’s Den' event on 10 September and inviting fellow food companies to participate.
They are looking for suppliers who would be interested in being stocked in their new shops in Doncaster town centre.
The products on sale in The Jam Horse shops will be free from additives and preservatives, and made locally to Doncaster (within 30 miles) or made in Yorkshire.
They are holding a Dragon’s Den style day on 10 September with a panel of ten local food business owners (who are also looking for new products to stock) at Cusworth Hall.
Products will be shortlisted and on 11 September will be tried and scored by 100 customers. The most popular ones will make it into the two The Jam Horse shops and will also be considered by
The Little Deli, Dreambakes and The Badger.
A documentary film crew and local media will be present, and businesses can either meet and pitch to the judges, or send their products in advance along with some news about their product and business.
All companies who are involved will be mentioned on our social media, we will not be ranking products publicly or being in any way negative about any products we receive.
The products they are looking for are:
- Cream (individual portions)
- Butter (individual portions)
- Chilli based products
- Loose whole foods
- Peanut butter
- Chocolate sauces/spreads
Samples for consideration need to arrive by Friday 7 September if being sent by post, or by Monday 10 September if being hand delivered or pitched about.
