Four Doncaster parks - Sandall Park (Wheatley Hills), Quarry Park (Dunsville), Bentley Park and Cusworth Hall Park - have been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as some of the very best in the world. The award means that they retain their existing recognition as a prominent green space.
The parks and green spaces are among a record-breaking 1,970 in the UK and 131 in thirteen other countries around the world that will today receive a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.
This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the parks boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
Cabinet member for Highways, Street Scene and Trading Services, Cllr Joe Blackham, said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive Green Flag Awards again for Sandall, Quarry, Bentley and Cusworth Hall Park.
“We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining these particular parks to such a high standard.”
The awards coincide with ‘Love Parks Week’, a national initiative aimed at encouraging residents to explore and enjoy the great outdoors. More information can be found at http://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/culture-leisure-tourism/parks
