The team behind Doncaster’s Rugby League World Cup bid is delighted to announce that they have been selected to proceed to the candidate stage of the process.
The bid which was submitted on the 31st July 2018 highlighted Doncaster’s desire to host three Rugby League World Cup 2021 games at the Keepmoat Stadium during the tournament in October 2021. Carl Hall, Chief Executive of Doncaster Rugby League Football Club said ‘we’re delighted with the news we’ve received today to confirm we’re through to the next stage of the process. Our bid team including Club Doncaster, Doncaster Council, Business Doncaster and Visit Doncaster worked together to ensure we submitted a comprehensive bid and marketing campaign and we’re grateful that it’s been recognised by the Rugby League World Cup 2021 team’.
The candidate stage runs from today, 20th August until 12th October and during this time site visits will be undertaken and an assessment report review.
