Full Doncaster Business Conference Programme Announced

High profile business leaders discuss hot issues impacting local firms.

The annual Doncaster Business Conference on Thursday 16 May promises a full line-up of high profile speakers discussing the issues that matter most to local firms. It will drive a two-way dialogue between businesses and partner organisations about how barriers to growth can be overcome and how economic opportunities can be better exploited for the benefit of the local economy.

This year’s two key themes are: ‘Act Local – Embracing Doncaster’s business assets’ and ‘Think Global – Making Doncaster an international business name.’

Keynote speakers and panellists will explore the current local and global economic climate – in relation to supply chains, international trade, infrastructure, digitalisation, place reputation and more – and what it means for Doncaster’s future.

Henri Murison, ceo of the Northern Powerhouse, will discuss how government, business and partners can drive the North’s ambitions to deliver on a range of exciting projects and the transformative impact they can bring to the region – such as HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail – and their relevance to Doncaster.

Chris Oldacre, UK Sales Leader - Consumer Products, Travel and Transport, at IBM, will also address the audience of 250+ delegates about global trends that Doncaster businesses need to be aware of and the global perceptions of the UK as a place to do business and to do business with.

During two panel discussions, Conference facilitator, Hannah Essex, from the British Chambers of Commerce, will question leaders from the public and private sectors on how Doncaster’s Inclusive Economic Growth Strategy can be implemented in a way that creates local and global opportunities for all and that encourages partners, businesses and residents to act locally and think globally.

Panellists include Graham White (Carlton Forest Group), Suzy Brain England OBE (NHS Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals), Rea Smith (Eaton), Karen Beardsley (Unipart Rail), Sam W Martin (entrepreneur), Rachel Smith (Polypipe), Rachel Whittaker (Jam Horse), and (Max Taylor Yorkshire, Humber & North East England China-Britain Business Council).

Both Mayor Ros Jones OBE and Jo Miller, CEO of Doncaster Council, will also share updates and comments on the morning’s insights.

There will be optimum networking opportunities over breakfast and throughout the morning of the Conference being organised by Doncaster Chamber and sponsored by Doncaster College & University Centre, Unipart Rail and Keebles LLP.

Book now to attend the Doncaster Business Conference on Thursday 16 May, 8.00am to 1.30pm at the Legacy Centre, Shaw Wood Way, DN2 5TB.
