Meetupcall join forces with Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust to help their staff stay fit and healthy

Doncaster based tech company Meetupcall have this week teamed up with Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT) to provide all their staff members with free gym memberships.

The scheme means that each of the employees at the conference call provider will have access to all 15 DCLT venues across the Doncaster area. What’s more, any staff that go to the gym during their lunch break will be given an extra 30 minutes on top of the hour they already get off – giving them plenty of time to fit a gym session in and grab some food.

Research from Leeds Beckett University has proven the benefits of exercising during the working day. They studied over 200 people at various companies and found that on days when employees visited the gym, their experience at work changed. They reported managing their time more effectively, being more productive, and having smoother interactions with their colleagues. Just as important: They went home feeling more satisfied at the end of the day.

Meetupcall founder & CEO Simon Moxon explains: “After speaking to the guys in the office, one of the most common reasons I found for people not going to the gym was that they simply didn’t have the time – which is why we’re encouraging our staff to go during their lunch break, and giving them an extra half hour for their lunch to make sure they do have the time.

“As well as the gym membership, we also provide a constant supply of free, fresh fruit in the office. I am a firm believer that a healthy workforce is a more productive workforce, and it makes the whole office a more enjoyable place to be for everybody, as we don’t have a team of caffeine fuelled zombies waiting for 5 o’clock to come around day after day!”

Kraig Kelly, head of leisure for Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust said: “It is great to see companies like Meetupcall taking their employees’ health and fitness so seriously. By giving the employees who attend the gym at lunch time an extra half an hour lunch break they are setting a great precedent.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the team from Meetupcall to our DCLT venues and seeing the difference that workplace sponsored fitness can make.”

For several years now, the Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust have established partnerships with companies right across the region, all with the aim of helping them improve the health, fitness and wellbeing of their workforce.
