Three Doncaster men are set to tackle the Great North Run this September to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.
The trio, all from the Leadership Team at Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT), are raising funds after one of their families was impacted by a stroke.
Michael Hart, chief executive, Chris Hone, head of commercial development and Carl Lewis, group marketing and communication manager, are taking on the half marathon, running the 13.1 miles from Newcastle’s city centre to the coast in South Shields.
Michael explains: “Last year Carl’s dad had a stroke and it had a huge impact on the family. This happened totally out of the blue and we’ve seen the devastating impact suffering a stroke can have on a person and on those around them.
“We decided as a group to all try and raise money for the Stroke Association to help them to continue their research to improve treatments, care and rehabilitation, saving thousands of lives and helping stroke survivors make the best recovery they can.
“The event is now only a few weeks away and our training is going well. We’ve set ourselves the target of raising £1000 for the charity and hope that our friends, family and business colleagues will sponsor our efforts and help us to reach our target.”
Michael, Chris and Carl will be taking part in the SimplyHealth Great North Run on September 8 2019.
