Yorkshire produced gin liqueur wins coveted taste award in first year of business

A Yorkshire produced Gin Liqueur has won a top industry award a little over six months after it first went on sale.

McCallums Gin Liqueurs, the latest diversification for the McCallum family manufactures and bottles the produce on their 15-acre fruit farm near Doncaster in South Yorkshire. They have been awarded a ‘2017 Great Taste Award’ for their Summer Fruits flavour liqueur.

“We are so pleased to have won this fantastic award and have our hard work and dedication recognised by such revered industry names,” said David McCallum Owner McCallums Gin Liqueurs and McCallums Farm Shop. “Our hard work and dedication to making a range of premium fruit infused gin liqueurs has clearly paid dividends and we are very much looking forward to seeing where the journey takes us next.”

The winning Summer Fruits flavour is complemented by a range of additional flavours produced at the farm including Black Gin Liqueur, Greengage Gin Liqueur, Yorkshire Rhubarb and Apple Gin Liqueur, Raspberry and the limited edition, Golden Raspberry Gin Liqueur.

“It has taken us a little over six years to perfect the liqueur making process and we are very proud that we use the fruit grown on our own farm in the produce,” said David. “It is another way for us to use the delicious fruit we have here and respond to a market demand for gin based liqueurs which are perfect served on their own, with a mixer or as part of the ever-growing range of gin cocktails.”

Additional current stockists include Drewton’s Farm Shop, South Cave; Blacker Hall Farm Shop, Wakefield; Cannon Hall Farm Shop, Barnsley and Uncle Henry’s Farm Shop, Grayingham near Gainsborough.  In addition, and in response to customer demands, McCallums also provides a direct to door delivery service across the UK.

Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind-tasting by hundreds of judges.
