Manufacturing of sofas began from a rented room above a snooker hall in Carcroft, Doncaster with the retail offer being downstairs. It was in 1983 that the assets of DFS Furniture Ltd were bought and the name changed to DFS. Head Office remains in Doncaster with DFS now being the clear UK market leading retailer of upholstered furniture with a portfolio of over 110 stores and a comprehensive online offering.
